It is always a relief to leave an expected March Wisconsin snowstorm on the way to sunny Nicaragua. It is even better to be back working with our wonderful Nicaraguan friends and colleagues. Dra. Flavia greeted me at the door with a hug and Bienvenidos a mi hermana! The welcoming of our work is a great start to our week.
During our first day working at Clínica Fara, Dra. Flavia Sosa shows continued dedication to patients and reinforcing her skills for cystoscopy. The work done by Dra. Sosa will continue to improve the health of her Nicaraguan community. Although our homes are separated by many miles, the health of our communities and the importance of keeping the women of our communities healthy bonds us.

Arrived safely and had a good but long day. Woke up today to birds singing and short’s weather. It seemed strange to turn the clocks ahead and than back when we got here. Have caught myself almost putting my toothbrush under the tap! Strange how you take things for granted in your daily routine such as safe running water. Breakfast was very good. I had mango, papaya, cantaloupe and watermelon for fruit. For the main course, I had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cheesy potatoes, rice and beans. It’s off to Matagalpa next. Oh yea, we put the air conditioning on last night. Adios!
